A place-based resource for educators teaching in regional, rural and remote communities in the Kimberley and Pilbara.
‘Place-based’ is an approach that involves bringing people together, such as a school or wider community, to address complex local needs by harnessing the vision, resources and opportunities in the community.
The Beyond Blue Cultural Actions Catalogue was developed with Aboriginal Elders, communities and educators, over an 18-month period of extensive consultation. The Pilbara and Kimberley Project is funded by the Federal Government as part of a raft of suicide prevention programs for young Aboriginal people in these regions.
The design of the Cultural Actions Catalogue was inspired by our Creative Director Kevin’s time spent in the Kimberley and Pilbara communities, ensuring an authentic and culturally responsive outcome. The colours, textures and voices of the Pilbara and Kimberley flow through every page. With videos of educators sharing their stories, the Catalogue has been developed to help identify short and long-term actions to create inclusive and respectful learning communities that embrace the history and cultures of these regions.
Thanks to our friends at Lush The Content Agency, and illustrator Tyrown Waigana for partnering with us on this project. You can access the full digital publication, including the educator stories, on the Be You Website.
