3 Journeys - Aboriginal storytelling through film, music and art

In November 2023, WA Museum Boola Bardip hosted three exhibitions that featured Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander storytelling through the medium of filmmaking, television, music, and art:

• Cleverman

• Bush Mechanics

• Warnarral Ngoorrngoorrool (Gija for ‘old car’).

Each of these exhibitions had an established and recognised visual identity. Nani was engaged to develop a new exhibition identity and campaign creative, under an overarching program: '3 Journeys, Aboriginal storytelling through film, music, and art'. Our brief was to develop flexible and adaptable creative that could be applied to the exhibition design and across multiple communications channels.

We wanted to create something that the public could access and engage with on multiple levels. They needed to feel a sense of what the exhibitions would give them—new knowledge, a sense of connection, and a deeper understanding of the First Nations creatives.

We delivered an exhibition identity that was flexible enough for everyone to use— exhibition designers, marketing teams, and inhouse designers—while also maintaining the integrity of the design and story without fragmentation.
